Careers Education and Impartial Advice and Guidance

Tolworth Girls’ School and Sixth Form is committed to ensuring our students are given opportunities to best prepare them for their future.   In school this is not just based on the curriculum but reaches far wider by supporting each and every student to follow the pathway that is best for them.

Throughout the year there are both internal and external events and activities that students are offered to start planning for the future. Through tutorial programmes, whole school curriculum days, trips and visits, all post 16 and 18 options are explored from year 8 onwards.
Students in all year group can meet with the careers advisor, and particularly at key transition times they are supported further in how to make these important decisions, by discovering their key skills and strengths individually.

Through speed networking, visitor talks, assemblies and roadshows students can ask questions and be inspired by professionals with a wealth of experience to motivate, building on the encouragement and support they receive in school from all staff.
We encourage input from parents, ex-students and visitors to help give the best start to the careers of our students. For further information on careers please follow the links below or contact the school on 020 8397 3854.

Work Related Learning and Business Links

At Tolworth Girls’ School and Sixth Form it is important that our students get to try working in the real world and therefore have developed a work experience programme for year 12 students which gives them not only the opportunity to do a week’s work placement in July, but also teaches them vital life skills in job searching, CV writing and presenting themselves to employers in a professional manner.

We are also working towards bringing more professionals in to meet with all year groups and encouraging our students to visit roadshows and conferences hosted by the local authority and wider networks the school is part of. This is in addition to the opportunities students are given in class, in subjects, demonstrating a practical use of subjects in different careers.
