Year 9 & Year 10 - Madrid trip

On Wednesday 19 October, 20 Spanish GCSE students from Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form and 20 from Southborough High School went to Madrid for 5 days to do a Spanish exchange with host families. I was very nervous to meet my host partner, however when we landed in Madrid and they greeted us at the airport I was relaxed. I was so happy that she and her family were so welcoming as I was going to stay at her house for the 5 days. It was nice that the schools put us in touch with each other before going so we could get to know our exchange partner a bit before arriving. I loved all of the things we did. One day we went to get churros con chocolate and then we did a Bernabeú football stadium tour which everyone loved. We went shopping in the centre of Madrid with the school and our Spanish exchange friends. At the weekend we could all do something with our own exchange families. I went shopping and to a theme park with my host family. Others went to family gatherings, spent time with family friends, visited the mountains and sampled lots of Spanish home-cooked food. But this all had to come to an end sadly as we had to go home, but luckily, they are coming to visit us in June. The trip was such a good experience and it has made me improve my Spanish. I wish we could have the opportunity to do it all again!
