Sky Up Visit

On February 19th, 32 students from Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form embarked on an extraordinary journey at Sky Up Academy Studios, immersing themselves in a transformative learning experience like no other. Sky Up Academy Studios offers a unique opportunity for young people to step into the world of media creation, placing them at the forefront of innovation and technology.

Described as a "brilliant experience" by one of our teachers, the day at Sky Studios provided students with a rare glimpse into the inner workings of one of the world's most esteemed media outlets. From rubbing shoulders with industry professionals to getting hands-on with state-of-the-art production equipment, the students were at the heart of the action throughout the day.

"It was a brilliant experience going to the Sky Studios and being amongst staff and creatives in one of the most reputable media outlets in the World. Students had the unique opportunity to work with the latest technology such as camera, greenscreens, sound equipment and editing software to create a news segment akin to what we see on TV every night. We also had a tour of some of the key operational buildings to see how news is sourced, recorded and broadcasted to society. The students had a fantastic day and it opened their eyes to potential careers and opportunities later in their lives".

During their time at Sky Up Academy Studios, students were fully immersed in the world of media production, utilizing cutting-edge equipment such as cameras, greenscreens, sound equipment, and editing software to create their own news segment. This hands-on experience provided them with invaluable insights into the complexities of media production and storytelling.

In addition to honing their technical skills, students were given an exclusive tour of key operational buildings, offering them a behind-the-scenes look at how news is sourced, recorded, and broadcasted to society. This first-hand exposure not only enriched their understanding of the media industry but also sparked their imaginations about potential career paths and future opportunities.
