Potential High Achievers (PHA)
Students are identified as Potential High Achievers if they fall in the top 10% of the year group in terms of their attainment. Setting is also used in core subjects to enable greater challenge for higher ability pupils.
Tolworth Girls School is part of the ISSP Partnership, a successful partnership between two local Independent Schools (Lady Eleanor Holles and Hampton School) and four other local State Secondary Schools (Hollyfield, Teddington School, Orleans Park, and Hampton Academy). The aim of the partnership is to develop collaboration and share resources to benefit the students of all schools. Each school organises events across a range of subjects and for different year groups throughout the year, as well as revision sessions at GCSE level for core subjects.
Tolworth Girls School has also developed links with some Universities part of the Russell Group. Every year, we organise visits to Oxford University, for our KS4 and KS5 students to have a tour of the colleges, but also to experience the interview process with some of the lecturers in their chosen subjects.
Extra-curricular opportunities are also very popular in our school, and many departments run varied enrichment opportunities for students throughout the year, which PHA students are encouraged to attend.
