YEAR 7 LETTERS

  • I am writing to inform you that there will be a Whole School Curriculum Day on Tuesday 21 May

    2024. On this day the normal timetable will be suspended to allow students the opportunity to

    explore pastoral topics in depth.

    This whole school curriculum day will encompass a variety of different activities focusing on

    citizenship and oracy. In the morning, students will engage in a Year 7 Speak Out Competition

    where finalists from each class will present the work they have been undertaking as part of their

    oracy lessons this academic year. Later in the day, students will explore reasons to support charity

    fundraising and develop their own action plans in line with our school ethos of ‘creating positivity’.

  • PSHCE (Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education) at Tolworth Girls’ School & Sixth Form (TGS) is a stand-alone lesson on a Thursday. We find this structure to lessons allows us to ensure we are not only teaching the students valuable and worthwhile lessons, but also allowing the time to discuss the topics in more depth. Our curriculum intent and maps have been developed and refined throughout the last two years and they are all available on the school website.

  • On Wednesday 13 March 2024 the usual timetable will be suspended to allow Year 7 to take part in wider curriculum experiences led by the Geography and Art Departments.

    The Geography and Art Department will be taking Year 7 students to RHS Garden Wisley. The experiences the students will take part in on this day will support the Key Stage 3 curriculum content they will be studying this term in both subjects, Tropical Rainforests and Natural Forms.

  • We are writing to invite you to the Year 7 Parent/Student Consultation Evening which will be held in school on Tuesday 20 February 2024 from 3.45pm until 6.45pm. During this evening, you will have the opportunity to meet with a selection of your daughter’s subject teachers to discuss her work, attitude and progress.

    As this is a subject specific consultation, Form Tutors will not be available for meetings on this evening's schedule. If you have a pastoral concern, please contact the school in the usual way and we will be happy to arrange a separate meeting.

  • To celebrate the fantastic start that Year 7 have made to their life at Tolworth Girls’ School & Sixth Form we will be holding a celebratory ‘Hot Chocolate and Board Games’ afternoon on Monday 18 December 2023. Your daughter may bring in any board or card games they like to play to school. Throughout Period 5 and tutorial the students will have the opportunity to play these games with their peers and have a hot chocolate.

  • I would just like to say a massive congratulations to your daughter for their consistent hard work, positive attitude to learning and resilience this half-term. Students have transitioned to life in secondary school extraordinarily well and it has been lovely to watch them develop new friendships and take on new challenges with their learning.

  • Dear Parent/Carer

    The School Immunisation Team are awaiting guidance from NHS England as to the details of the flu programme for years 7 to 9. Currently the earliest date we have been given to begin is the 5th December 2022.

    As soon as we hear more about the programme we will be in touch via your Child's school.

    Children with an underlying health issues remain eligible to receive a flu vaccination at their GP.
