Tolworth Girls’ School Students Shine at the London International Model United Nations High School Conference 2025

This past weekend, a group of outstanding students from Tolworth Girls’ School (TGS) had the incredible opportunity to attend the 9th edition of the London International Model United Nations High School Conference (LIMUN:HS), held from 26th to 27th April 2025. This prestigious event brought together young, ambitious minds from across the UK — and beyond — to immerse themselves in the art of diplomacy, debate, and international problem-solving.

About LIMUN:HS

LIMUN:HS is one of the UK’s leading Model United Nations (MUN) conferences for school-age students. Organised by the LIMUN Foundation, the conference aims to introduce young people to the workings of international organisations like the United Nations, encouraging them to engage with global issues through research, negotiation, and public speaking.

Importantly, LIMUN:HS has a strong commitment to accessibility — providing a platform for students from a wide range of backgrounds to participate in high-quality debate and to foster future leaders in diplomacy, law, politics, and international relations. For many, LIMUN:HS is the first step into a world of diplomacy and global citizenship.

The TGS Delegates’ Outstanding Achievements

Throughout an intense 16 hours of committee sessions, our TGS students demonstrated exceptional poise, intelligence, and determination. They debated complex global issues, sponsored and wrote resolutions, collaborated with peers from across the country, and consistently impressed committee chairs with their thoughtful contributions.

We are immensely proud to celebrate the following achievements:

🏆 Honour E. (S1): Honourable Mention Award, WHO Committee

🏆 Dimitra M. (S5): Best Delegate/Most Diplomatic, COPUOS Committee – and an invitation to participate in the university-level LIMUN Conference in February!

🏆 Astri M. (9O): Special Commendation for research, public speaking, and leadership skills — despite being the youngest delegate in the room!

In addition to our award winners, a huge congratulations to all our fantastic TGS delegates who represented us so brilliantly:

  • Lana A. (S4)

  • Aram F. (10A)

  • Honour E. (S1)

  • Dimitra M. (S5)

  • Astri M. (9O)

  • Zac S. (S4) — who proudly represented the United Kingdom, complete with some fantastic suit embroidery!

Beyond the Debates

Our students also attended a special session delivered by the Head of Admissions at King’s College London (formerly Head of Applications at UCAS). The session highlighted how highly experiences like Model United Nations are regarded by competitive university admissions teams, reinforcing the immense value of participating in events like LIMUN:HS.

Beyond the academic skills gained, the weekend offered vital opportunities to build confidence, forge new friendships, and develop a deeper understanding of the interconnected world we live in.

A Special Thank You

A heartfelt thank you goes to Mr Atham and Ms Hills for their unwavering support and for giving up their weekend to accompany our students. Their commitment made this experience possible — and unforgettable.
