Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form isn't one to settle for a single day of celebration when it comes to the joy of reading and creativity. That's why, instead of just marking World Book Day on March 7th, TGS embarked on a week-long journey filled with bookish events and activities for its students.

Kicking off the festivities was a burst of creativity as students adorned their form room doors with the essence of their favourite books. From enchanting tales to thrilling adventures, each door reflected the literary passions of its creators. The tough decision of selecting a winner was a testament to the remarkable efforts poured into each decoration.

Thursday saw TGS embrace the spirit of World Book Day with a twist. Students were encouraged to dress up as their beloved book characters, with the added challenge of having to identify themselves and their literary origins. The school was transformed into a tapestry of imagination, with characters ranging from the whimsical to the iconic.

Adding to the excitement, TGS hosted a 'Drop Everything and Read' session, providing students with 15 minutes of uninterrupted reading time to delve into their current literary escapades. The dedication to fostering a love for reading was evident throughout the school.

But the celebration didn't stop there. Throughout the week, students embarked on a thrilling scavenger hunt, scouring the school for lanyard-clad staff members holding clues to beloved book titles. The hunt promised not only prizes but also a chance to earn valuable house points, igniting a fervor of excitement among participants.

The adventure continued with a book treasure hunt, challenging students to keep their eyes peeled for hidden books scattered across the school grounds. Each discovered book was a ticket to claim a special reward from the library, incentivizing exploration and discovery.

Adding to the allure, golden tickets were concealed among the library shelves, offering lucky finders an array of exclusive prizes. The anticipation of uncovering these coveted tickets infused the air with excitement and anticipation.

Throughout break and lunch times, students were treated to special videos featuring author Q&A sessions in the library, providing insights and inspiration straight from the minds behind beloved literary worlds.

From door decorations to character costumes, scavenger hunts to author insights, Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form's week-long celebration of World Book Day was a testament to its unwavering commitment to nurturing a love for reading and creativity among its students.
